Youmn Young is an associate at Arcus Legal, where her practice focuses on corporate law, administrative law, and civil litigation. A heterodox thinker, Youmn loves the uphill battle and thrives on tackling tough legal problems with fresh, pragmatic strategies. Her legal experience included work with tenancy tribunals, legal aid, NL criminal defence firm, and Crown prosecution offices across NS, NL, and ON.
Youmn attended the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Faculty of Law, where she was awarded the Richard J Scott, QC and Veronica Mondesir Scholarships. Throughout law school, Youmn contributed as the student coordinator for the Fredericton Legal Advice Clinic. And year after year, her peers elected her to the UNB Law Student Government, where she served as 1L Rep, 2L Rep, and later as Vice President of Finance & Operations. Youmn was also selected to represent UNB Law at the Canadian National Negotiation Moot Competition and as a student intern for the NB legal aid and the NB residential tenancy tribunal.
Before her legal studies, Youmn completed a Bachelor of Science at Acadia. She held long-standing roles as President of her student government, Resident Assistant (RA), SMILE program volunteer, and student coordinator for the Wolfville Farmers’ Market throughout her time at Acadia. In recognition of her leadership and community engagement, she received the ASU Leadership Award, an honour awarded to one student annually across the entire university.
Outside of work, Youmn loves breaching her limits whether while she’s training for a triathlon or leaving it all on the mat during a hard CrossFit workout or a jiu jitsu roll. Equally important to her are the moments that invite stillness, gratitude, and community: hot yoga, time in nature, trying new things with her friends, and sunset walks with her little brothers.
Youmn is from Montreal, Quebec. She is fully bilingual in English and Arabic.
