Arcus Legal will be closed on Monday, February 17 for Nova Scotia Heritage Day, and will reopen on Tuesday, February 18.
This year for Nova Scotia Heritage Day, we honour Nora M. Bernard, a Mi’kmaq activist from the Millbrook First Nation and a tireless advocate for First Nations communities across the country.
Ms. Bernard was a strong advocate for Residential School Survivors and played an integral role in ensuring justice and recognition for those affected by the Canadian Indian Residential School system. In 1995, she founded an organization to represent survivors, which eventually led to the creation of the largest class-action lawsuit in Canadian history.
